The head of MI5, Ken McCallum, expressed concern over the resurgence of ISIS and Al-Qaeda as the terrorism trend that worries him the most due to a “worsening threat” after years of being suppressed by military operations. McCallum warned that organised groups have the capability to carry out or inspire mass casualty attacks, with over a third of MI5’s top priority investigations focusing on this growing threat. The Security Service is on high alert to prevent such attacks and protect the public from potential terrorism.
