Net migration to the UK fell to 728,000 in the year to June 2024, a 20% decline from the previous year’s record high of 906,000. The figures were revised upwards from initial estimates, with the year to December 2023 now thought to be 866,000. New Tory leader Kemi Badenoch admitted her party’s failure on migration, while the ONS noted a decrease in dependants on study visas and work-related arrivals contributing to the decline.
