Amber weather warnings for snow and ice have been issued in England and Wales as temperatures drop to -7.4C, resulting in dangerous driving conditions and a fatal accident on the A1 where a baby boy was killed. Up to 40cm of snow is expected in northern England, with potential for snow drifts and freezing rain, leading to treacherous conditions. Three hillwalkers were rescued in the Cairngorms after getting stranded near the summit of the Lairig Ghru mountain pass, as snow falls across Scotland and England.
