Two doctoral students at the University of South Florida, Zamil Limon and Nahida S. Bristy, both aged 27, have been reported missing. The students were last seen on Thursday, with Limon disappearing from his Tampa residence at 9 a.m., and Bristy last spotted at 10 a.m. in the Natural and Environmental Sciences Building on campus. Limon is pursuing a degree in geography, environmental science, and policy, while Bristy is studying chemical engineering. Concern from family and friends prompted missing persons reports to be filed after they were unable to make contact with either student. Police have stated that the two are friends and may be together, and they are urging anyone with information regarding their whereabouts to contact the USF Police Department.

Why It Matters

The disappearance of students in academic settings raises significant concerns about safety on college campuses. The University of South Florida has previously dealt with incidents involving missing students, which can impact the community’s perception of campus security and wellbeing. Effective communication and timely responses from law enforcement are critical in situations like this, as they can facilitate quicker resolutions and potentially safeguard other students. The ongoing search for Limon and Bristy underscores the importance of community vigilance and cooperation in ensuring the safety of students.
