Two Russian cargo ships carrying oil products are in distress in the Kerch Strait, with one ship, “Volgoneft 212,” running aground and requesting assistance, resulting in the evacuation of its 13-person crew and one reported fatality. Another vessel, “Volgoneft 239,” also sustained damage in the same region, prompting an ongoing response effort involving over 50 specialists and 11 units of equipment to assess the potential oil spill. Despite the ongoing tensions between Ukraine and Russia over Crimea, there is no indication that these incidents are conflict-related.
