2 Americans arrested in Venezuela on eve of Maduro inauguration over ‘terrorism’ claims

The Biden administration imposed sanctions against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his associates for electoral fraud and human rights violations. Maduro claimed to have arrested two U.S. citizens, along with other foreign mercenaries, on charges of terrorism, which the State Department denied. The identities of those detained have not been revealed, and concerns remain for Americans held in Venezuela following a prisoner swap in 2023.
