ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, March 13. Turkmenistan may potentially export a significant amount of energy resources to Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Kazakhstan, as stated by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan, during the 15th meeting of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Ashgabat, according to Trend.

“Turkmenistan, being one of the largest producers of energy resources, is prepared to provide them to our fraternal countries and increase the current volume of supplies. We also have favorable opportunities to export Turkmen natural gas and electricity to Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Kazakhstan,” he mentioned.

He emphasized that Turkmenistan is motivated by the need to establish long-term, consistent cooperation within the OTS, with a focus on promising sectors, including energy.

“Energy is a key sector for us. Our country believes that given the volatile nature of the global energy markets, it is crucial to build an efficient, reliable, and self-sufficient cooperation model. This will ensure the fulfillment of our states’ growing energy needs,” the chairman explained.

Berdimuhamedov also highlighted the potential for creating a permanent integrated energy transmission system in the future, enabling the Turkic states to fully utilize their geographical proximity, resource potential, and supply capabilities.

“Currently, Turkmenistan exports electricity to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. Additionally, there are plans to undertake significant projects with these countries to transport Turkmenistan’s natural gas to the east,” he emphasized.
