A group of British legal professionals, including Cherie Blair and two former Tory cabinet ministers, expressed serious concerns regarding Labour MP Tulip Siddiq’s trial in Bangladesh over corruption allegations. They criticized the proceedings as unfair and lacking proper defense opportunities, highlighting that she is being tried in her absence. Siddiq, who resigned as city minister after accusations of illegally receiving land from her aunt, has maintained the allegations are part of a smear campaign. The Bangladeshi High Commission has been contacted for comment.
