Trump criticizes Germany’s Merz amid escalating tensions over Iran war

President Donald Trump has intensified his criticism of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz amid growing tensions over Germany’s stance on the war against Iran. Trump advised Merz to focus on domestic issues rather than commenting on the Middle East, suggesting that the conflict is beneficial for global security, including for Germany. This dispute follows Merz’s questioning of the U.S. strategy in the conflict and has led to discussions about potentially reducing U.S. troop presence in Germany, which Berlin is prepared for while emphasizing NATO cooperation.
