Fee paid by companies set to transform high-skill work visa system, upon which technology sector relies heavily.
President Trump has enacted a $100,000 application fee for companies sponsoring H-1B visas, aiming to secure only the most skilled workers for high-demand roles, particularly in tech. This change, alongside a proposed “gold card” visa for $1 million, is expected to significantly alter the H-1B program, which has historically favored a lottery system for awarding visas.
