President Donald Trump announced that his team is discussing implementing a 10% tariff on China, citing the country’s role in sending fentanyl to Mexico and Canada. The tariff could potentially take effect as early as Feb. 1, with the goal of reducing the illicit supply of the highly addictive drug that has caused numerous overdose deaths in the U.S. Trump recently spoke with Chinese President Xi Jinping about fentanyl and trade, with both leaders expressing a desire for cooperation in addressing the issue.
