Trump pardons Nikola founder Trevor Milton in securities fraud case

President Donald Trump pardoned Nikola Corp. founder Trevor Milton, who was convicted in October 2022 for defrauding investors with false claims about the company. Milton, 42, received a four-year prison sentence in December 2023 but has been free pending an appeal of his conviction for securities and wire fraud. The pardon came after federal prosecutors sought $680 million in restitution for Nikola shareholders and $15.2 million for a wire fraud victim, preventing the court from ordering any restitution.
