Donald Trump was sworn in as the President of the United States for a second time without placing his hand on the Bibles, breaking tradition. Chief Justice John Roberts administered the oath as Melania Trump held the Bibles, including the Lincoln Bible and Trump’s personal Bible, while Vice President JD Vance did place his hand on the Bible. Although it is customary for the president to place a hand on the Bible during the oath, it is not a constitutional requirement.
