Trump administration to exempt smartphones and computers from China tariffs

On Friday, the Trump administration announced that smartphones and computers would be exempt from the 125% tariffs imposed on imports from China, as well as from a 10% global tariff affecting most countries. This decision was communicated via a notice from US Customs and Border Patrol (CBP), clarifying that devices and electronics like memory cards would not be subject to these additional levies. The exemption aims to alleviate the financial burden on consumers and businesses reliant on these technologies amidst ongoing trade tensions.
