Tropical Storm Erin has formed in the eastern Atlantic Ocean, potentially becoming the season’s first hurricane, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center. As of 11 a.m. EDT, Erin was located about 2,305 miles east of the Leeward Islands with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph, and while it is expected to strengthen, it does not pose an immediate threat to the U.S.
