Transport Canada Limited to On-Call Arctic Surveillance This Summer

Transport Canada has adopted a “reactive posture” for Arctic overflights this past summer due to issues such as a broken aircraft, overtime restrictions, and the delayed arrival of a drone purchased five years ago. The agency is now seeking tenders for at least one unmanned aerial drone to monitor environmental changes and shifting sea ice in the region.
