New Zealanders are being warned to prepare for fire risks as extreme temperatures and strong winds are forecasted to impact large parts of the country. Over a dozen heat warnings have been issued for the weekend, with some areas expecting temperatures to exceed 30°C. Hawke’s Bay may see highs of 36°C in Napier and 38°C in Hastings, while the South Island anticipates temperatures around 31°C in Blenheim and Kaikōura. Additionally, heavy rain and gusts up to 130km/h are expected in the lower North Island and parts of the South Island.
