Toronto World Cup tickets to be resold at face value on FIFA marketplace

Tickets for World Cup matches in Toronto can now only be resold for their original price on FIFA’s official marketplace, following an update to comply with Ontario’s ban on reselling tickets above face value. This change came after tickets for six matches were removed from the platform in response to the province’s new legislation. The new terms state that no ticket for a match at Toronto Stadium can be listed for resale above the original amount paid to FIFA Ticketing, regardless of any previous resale price. However, tickets for matches at other venues can still be listed above face value on the official resale platform.

Why It Matters

The update in FIFA’s resale policy for World Cup tickets in Toronto reflects the Ontario government’s efforts to prevent ticket scalping and protect fans from exorbitant prices. This move aims to ensure fair access to tickets for all attendees and aligns with the province’s regulations on ticket reselling. By implementing these new terms, FIFA is working to maintain transparency and fairness in ticket sales for the upcoming tournament, which is being co-hosted by Canada, the US, and Mexico.
