Sen. Tom Cotton discusses uncertainty over Iran’s leadership

Senator Tom Cotton, chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, stated that there is “not a simple answer” regarding Iran’s leadership following the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during a U.S.-Israeli military operation. This operation resulted in over 200 Iranian casualties and retaliatory strikes by Iran, which killed several people in Israel and Abu Dhabi. Cotton emphasized the need for leadership to emerge from the Iranian opposition and ruled out a large-scale ground force in Iran, while confirming the U.S. will continue targeting Iranian military capabilities.
