Toll from Sudan paramilitary attack jumps to 120: minister

Paramilitaries in Sudan, specifically the Rapid Support Forces, have killed over 120 people in al-Jazira state, including at least 10 children, intensifying their violence against civilians following the defection of their commander. The UN has warned that Sudanese are enduring a “nightmare” of violence, with tens of thousands dead and millions displaced, leading to the world’s largest displacement crisis and humanitarian crisis. Despite the atrocities committed by both sides, the conditions are not conducive for the successful deployment of a UN force to protect civilians in Sudan, as famine looms in various regions, requiring urgent aid and access for humanitarian organizations.
