In New Jersey, a single ticket matched all the winning numbers in Tuesday evening’s drawing for the Mega Millions $1.3 billion jackpot.
The winning numbers were 7, 11, 22, 29, 38, and the gold Mega Ball 4.
Thirteen tickets from nine Mega Millions-eligible states matched five numbers to win $1 million each. One of these tickets had a multiplier, increasing the prize to $2 million.
This win marks the sixth time the Mega Millions jackpot has exceeded $1 billion, making it the fifth-largest prize in the game’s history.
Before Tuesday’s win, there were 30 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner. The previous jackpot was won on Dec. 8.
The jackpot prize can be claimed as a cash value of $537.5 million, either as a one-time lump sum payment or an immediate payment followed by 29 annual installments.
According to Mega Millions, the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350.
Mega Millions is available in 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands, with tickets priced at $2 each.
The largest Mega Millions jackpot ever won was a $1.6 billion prize on Aug. 8, 2023.
