Thousands of supporters gathered outside Kathmandu airport to welcome former king Gyanendra Shah and demand the restoration of the monarchy. Waving from his car, Gyanendra faced a cheering crowd chanting for a constitutional monarchy, as police managed the situation without arrests. This rally precedes important parliamentary elections, where pro-royal groups aim to increase their representation, despite past protests turning violent.
