This ‘Dune’ isn’t fiction. It’s the longest conveyer belt in the US and moving sand in Texas

In Kermit, Texas, Atlas Energy Solutions has installed a 42-mile long conveyer belt named “The Dune Express” to transport sand for hydraulic fracturing, bypassing the dangers of truck transportation. The belt, with a freight capacity of 13 tons, runs from Texas to New Mexico, aiming to streamline production and reduce environmental impact in the oil-rich Permian Basin. Despite concerns from environmentalists, the company plans to operate the belt at full capacity around the clock to improve efficiency and safety in the region.
