The last of the two inmates who escaped from a jail in Opelousas, Louisiana, was captured, while a third inmate died by suicide. Keith Anthony Eli II was apprehended thanks to a tip from narcotics detectives and a SWAT team. The escape involved removing concrete blocks from an upper wall, using sheets to scale the wall, and lowering themselves to the ground. The two other escapees have been captured and faced multiple charges, with one of them dying by suicide during a police encounter.
