The Wailing Wall in Jerusalem is being cleaned of thousands of prayer notes in preparation for the Jewish New Year, known as “Messages to God”. This ritual, overseen by Chief Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovitch, is performed twice a year to make space for new notes in the holiest place for Jews.
