Drew Goddard has confirmed that The Matrix 5 is still in development, following a two-year silence since its announcement. Warner Bros. officially greenlit the project in 2024 after the mixed performance of The Matrix Resurrections. While there is currently no confirmed casting, Keanu Reeves has expressed willingness to reprise his role as Neo, contingent on an invitation from Lana Wachowski, who will serve as an executive producer. The film will mark the first installment without the Wachowskis directing.
