Apple Podcasts App Adopts HTTP Live Streaming Technology

Apple is set to update its Podcasts app by transitioning to HTTP Live Streaming technology, enhancing user experience by allowing seamless switching between video and audio, along with offline downloads. The new app will feature a horizontal full display, picture-in-picture multitasking on iPads, and automatic picture quality adjustments for smooth playback over various network conditions. Currently in beta, the update will roll out this spring across platforms including iOS, iPadOS, visionOS, and the web.
