Thailand delays release of Cambodian soldiers over truce violations
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

While the ceasefire has held since Saturday, Thailand says Cambodia violated the deal with drone flights over the border.

Thailand has postponed the transfer of 18 captured Cambodian soldiers, citing violations of a truce agreement due to Cambodian drone incursions into its airspace. The ceasefire, which has halted 20 days of conflict resulting in over 100 deaths and massive displacement, was expected to lead to the soldiers’ release after 72 hours. Despite the ceasefire, tensions remain high, with concerns about its fragility and the continued displacement of people in the border areas. As aid is distributed, many remain hesitant to return home, fearing the ceasefire may not hold.
