Travis Mullis, a Texas man with a history of mental illness, was scheduled for execution for stomping his 3-month-old son Alijah to death in 2008. Despite repeatedly trying to waive his right to appeal his death sentence, Mullis faced lethal injection at the Huntsville state penitentiary. The 38-year-old committed the crime in Brazoria County when he was 21 years old.
