Texas set to surpass California in battery storage capacity

U.S. battery storage installations reached a record 57.6 GWh in 2025, with Texas expected to overtake California as the largest storage market in 2026. Total utility-scale storage in the U.S. hit 137 GWh, alongside 19 GWh in commercial and industrial systems, and 9 GWh in residential storage. Analysts project over 600 GWh of energy storage to be deployed by 2030, driven by increased demand and advancements in battery manufacturing, particularly in red states.
