The head of engineering for Tesla’s Optimus humanoid robot division, Milan Kovac, announced his departure on X, stating it would not affect the company’s plans to build thousands of robots this year. Kovac emphasized his decision was to spend more time with family and expressed unwavering support for Elon Musk and the team. Musk, who views Optimus as a crucial product development amidst slowing EV sales, revealed that Ashok Elluswamy, the Autopilot chief, will take over responsibilities for Optimus during this critical phase, as the company aims for significant production despite challenges with rare earth mineral exports.
