Kebede criticized the treatment of Kaba, a former gang member, and highlighted the lack of transparency in the case. Additionally, Kebede has been vocal on various political issues and was elected as the NEU’s general secretary with a low voter turnout. He has a history of controversial remarks, including apologizing for using an anti-Semitic phrase online. Robinson, who had organized a march on the same day, was unable to attend due to being charged with failing to provide his mobile phone access code to police.
