Taranaki piggery goes solar

Installing 400 solar panels with 200kw capacity at their Taranaki piggery and cropping operation will provide significant environmental, financial, and animal welfare benefits for the Stanley family. The power generated will cover around 70% of their daily energy use initially, with plans to reach 100%, saving around $65,000 to $70,000 of their $110,000 annual power bill. This innovative approach aligns with their commitment to sustainability, with previous initiatives recognized in environmental awards and efforts to achieve a carbon-neutral commercial pig farming sector by 2050.
