Yasmen Almashan, a founding member of the Caesar Families Association, lost five of her six brothers during the early years of the Syrian civil war, advocating for the truth about Syria’s missing persons and calling for a national transitional justice policy. UN human rights chief Volker Türk highlighted efforts in Guatemala and Colombia towards transitional justice, emphasizing victim-centered approaches and empowering young people like Sofija Todorovic, who stressed the importance of involving youth in building a just future. UN deputy chief Nada Al-Nashif warned of threats to international law principles protecting humanity from atrocities, urging states to prevent genocide by addressing discrimination and hatred.
