Syrian forces in deadly clashes with Assad-linked fighters in Latakia

Gunmen loyal to deposed Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad have killed at least 15 security personnel in ambushes in Latakia, a coastal province. Tensions are high as a resistance group called the “coastal shield regiment” has formed against the new government, leading to clashes and reinforcements being sent to the area. The situation is now under control, with attackers killed and captured, and a curfew imposed in Tartous.
