Syria war monitor says rebels control most of Aleppo city

Rebels, including Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, have seized control of most of Aleppo city, with Russian air strikes reported for the first time since 2016. Syria’s army confirmed rebel advances, leading to casualties on both sides, amid a lightning offensive since a ceasefire in Lebanon. The rebels have also made gains in other areas in northern Syria, prompting Russian bombings and calls for a halt to violence from Turkey.
