Swelling sends QB J.J. McCarthy into second knee surgery

Minnesota Vikings rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy underwent a second knee surgery due to swelling during his rehab, following a season-ending meniscus repair in August. Coach Kevin O’Connell praised McCarthy’s progress and confirmed he remains on track for the 2025 season. McCarthy, the No. 10 overall pick, was a strong contender for the starting job before the injury, with veteran Sam Darnold stepping in and performing well for the 7-2 Vikings.
