Swedish church to be moved 5km to make way for mine

Sweden’s Kiruna Church is being relocated five kilometers to protect it from the expansion of the world’s largest underground iron ore mine, as part of a larger 30-year project to move 3,000 homes and 6,000 people from the city. This effort, backed by mine operator LKAB, aims to extend mining operations and includes the development of a new city center, with the church symbolizing the transformation.
