The vessel, identified as the Malta-flagged Vezhen, was seized near the port of Karlskrona, with authorities including the Coast Guard and Armed Forces involved in the investigation. The incident follows previous reports of cable ruptures in the region linked to Russian activity, prompting NATO to launch a new mission to protect undersea cables and pipelines in the Baltic Sea.
