Judge directs Trump administration to restore Voice of America and reinstate staff

A federal judge has ordered the Trump administration to restore the Voice of America (VOA) operations, which had been largely shut down for a year, allowing hundreds of employees to return to work. U.S. District Court Judge Royce C. Lamberth criticized the prior administration’s actions as “arbitrary and capricious,” noting they did not comply with federal laws regarding VOA’s required services. Following this ruling, Patsy Widakuswara, a VOA bureau chief and plaintiff in the case, expressed hope for rebuilding the agency’s reputation and trust.
