An illegal immigrant and suspected Venezuelan gang member, Yorlenys Betzabeth Zambrano-Contreras, was shot by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Portland on January 8, linked to a previous July 2025 shooting incident. During a traffic stop, her husband, Luis Nino-Moncada, aggressively reversed into a Border Patrol vehicle, prompting an agent to open fire. Both suspects, connected to the Tren de Aragua gang, were treated for gunshot wounds and face federal charges. The case is under investigation by the FBI and U.S. Attorney’s Office, and no body camera footage exists from the incident.
