Sudanese city pounded as analysts report ‘unprecedented’ combat

Heavy fighting in El-Fasher, a city in North Darfur, Sudan, intensified on Saturday as witnesses reported clashes with paramilitaries. The city is besieged by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), who have been in conflict with the regular army since April 2023. The United Nations has labeled the war in Sudan as the cause of the world’s largest displacement crisis.
