During the 58th UN Human Rights Council, High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk highlighted the dire situation in Sudan and called for international action to enforce a ceasefire, ensure humanitarian access, and protect civilians from the supply of advanced arms. Victims of violence by the Rapid Support Forces urged Member States to uphold international humanitarian law, provide aid to victims and refugees, and support investigations by the International Criminal Court. At a Geneva Press Club event, speakers discussed the impact of the conflict on victims, crimes committed by the Rapid Support Forces, and the role of foreign involvement, emphasizing the crucial role of the UN Human Rights Council and human rights organizations in addressing the crisis.
