Sudan’s Prime Minister Kamil Idris announced the government’s return to Khartoum after nearly three years in Port Sudan, following the army’s recapture of the city from the RSF last March. The capital, previously a battleground, has seen 1.2 million residents return to find devastated infrastructure and services. While the government pledges improvements, the ongoing conflict continues to displace millions and has led to widespread atrocities. Recent military operations have reportedly inflicted heavy losses on the RSF, although the situation remains volatile.
