Strange Trailer for Horror ‘The Coffee Table’ About Demonic Furniture

“Enjoy if you dare…” What crazy idea will they come up with next for a horror movie?! Try this on for size, why don’t ya. Watch out for deadly tables! The Coffee Table is a Spanish horror film about, uh, some kind of haunted, killer furniture. Jesus and Maria are a couple going through a difficult time in their relationship. Nevertheless, they have just become parents and are also struggling with the pressures of a newborn baby. To shape their new life, they decide to buy a new coffee table. A decision that will change their existence and their lives forever. This indie horror was entirely shot over the course of 10 days. Starring David Pareja and Estefanía de los Santos, with Josep Maria Riera, Claudia Riera, and Eduardo Antuña. It’s described as “an unsettling descent into absolute madness and misery,” and also “uproariously funny until it is not at all.” Well, this definitely sounds nuts! And looks much more weird and freaky than it does comedic.

Here’s the official UK trailer (+ poster) for Caye Casas’ film The Coffee Table, direct from YouTube:

David Pareja (Amigo) and Estefanía de los Santos (Jaulas) give gobsmackingly brilliant performances as Jesus and María, a couple going through a tough time in their relationship following the recent arrival of their newborn son. The fiery pair are struggling with the pressures that a new baby brings and their bickering only amplifies on a shopping trip to buy furniture that’s about to change their lives forever. What begins as a simple disagreement over which coffee table to buy quickly descends into a shocking and tragic event that will rip their lives apart. The Coffee Table, also known as La Mesita del Comedor (or The Dining Table) in Spanish, is directed by Spanish genre filmmaker Caye Casas, director of the film Killing God previously, plus many other short films. The screenplay is written by Cristina Borobia and Caye Casas. Produced by Norbert Llaràs and Maria José Serra. This initially premiered at the 2022 Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival a few years ago, and also played at Fantaspoa & Fantastic Fest. The Coffee Table will be out on VOD in the UK on May 20th, 2024; it’s already available on VOD in the US since March earlier in the year.
