Mohommad Nazeer Paktyawal, a 41-year-old Afghan immigrant who worked with U.S. forces during the Afghanistan war, died while in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody after just one day. He was detained on March 13 and was reported to have complained of shortness of breath before being taken to a Dallas hospital, where he died the following morning. Paktyawal had an open asylum application and had previously served in Afghan special forces. His family and advocacy group AfghanEvac are questioning the circumstances of his death.
