ICE Detainee Found Dead in Texas Detention Facility

An undocumented immigrant, Victor Manuel Diaz, 36, from Nicaragua, died of a presumed suicide on January 14 while in custody at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Texas. Diaz had entered the U.S. illegally in March 2024 and was detained in Minneapolis on January 6 before being processed for removal. He was found unconscious two days later and pronounced dead despite life-saving efforts. This incident marks the second death reported at the Camp East Montana facility this month.
