Off-duty ICE officer shoots man outside apartment complex

An off-duty Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer fatally shot an armed man outside his Los Angeles apartment on New Year’s Eve. The officer, who heard gunfire, confronted a man with a long rifle, and after identifying himself, the man allegedly pointed his weapon at him. The officer fired in self-defense, and the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is under investigation by ICE’s Office of Professional Responsibility and the LAPD.
