A Georgetown law program is assisting exoneration efforts for Ken Middleton, an 81-year-old man serving life in prison for the 1990 murder of his wife, despite claims of innocence and prosecutorial misconduct. Convicted in 1991, Middleton’s sentence was vacated by a judge due to trial irregularities, but this ruling was overturned, leaving him incarcerated due to a jurisdictional technicality. The Georgetown team will investigate the case and produce a documentary, offering renewed hope to Middleton’s family. Since its inception in 2018, the program has helped secure 13 prison releases.
