Trump Administration Seeks to Lift Ban on Abrego Garcia’s Deportation

The Trump administration is moving to lift the ban on Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s deportation to Liberia, following a denial of his fear of persecution claim by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. DOJ attorneys argue that assurances from Liberia negate his claims, and they assert that his lawsuit against removal is improper due to his involvement in a separate class action case. Abrego Garcia’s attorneys seek to block the removal, arguing that due process was not followed in the assessment of his case. Currently, he is detained in Pennsylvania after being previously deported to El Salvador.
